About the panic05 web site:

The pages are written in plain html (no special tools). The pages use php and mysql. We were not very successful trying to get software out of other conference sites.

The 'abstract submission' pages are the most complicated, since we accept abstracts both in LaTeX and RTF (MSWord) format, AND we produce a preview in real time. I believe this instant preview feature (for RTF) is a first. We also allow secure login to modify abstracts after submission.

The abstracts (about 600 total), author information, preview etc are stored in a data base, and the (parallel session) program pages are dynamically generated from the database contents. This makes it easy to make changes to the program, There were LOTS of changes.

The data base also made it easy to generate email lists of speakers and poster presenters, and generate html tables of posters, parallel talks, etc.

We are probably going to clean up the software, and bundle it up so that we can offer this as a package to future conference organizers.
